Who are K9-SAR
About Our K9 Search and Rescue Team – North & West Yorkshire
We are a dedicated team of volunteers working across North and West Yorkshire, focused on reuniting missing dogs with their families. Operating as K9 Search and Rescue (K9-SAR), we respond rapidly and work tirelessly to bring lost pets home.
While dogs are our primary focus, we have also assisted with lost cats and missing people in the past, offering our support and equipment wherever it’s needed most.
What We Do
When a dog goes missing, every second counts. Our experienced team uses a combination of ground searches and specialist technology to track and locate missing pets. This includes:
Drones equipped with thermal and zoom cameras
Thermal imaging devices
Trail and wildlife cameras
High-powered torches and search lighting
Night vision and surveillance tools
We adapt our approach based on the situation, terrain, and available information, often working closely with owners, local residents, and other organisations.
Reuniting Pets and Families
We’ve successfully helped bring home many lost dogs—and on occasion, cats and even people—thanks to dedicated teamwork, community support, and patience. Every reunion is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
Support Our Work
As a self-funded volunteer team, we rely on public support to keep going. Donations help cover essential costs like equipment, fuel, batteries, and replacement gear—all of which are crucial to our operations.
